SIDEBOARD










The sideboard is a work of harmony and contrast.  A silhouette modestly situated among several commanding objects, it acts subserviently while maintaining a defined architectural vigor.  Next to the plush Saarinen dining chairs and the rich ebony table, the sideboard gives a sleek appearance - as if to suggest its non-presence.  But like a book, its beauty is revealed upon closer inspection.  The clear-finished wood drawers and center shelf, made of solid fiddleback sycamore, draw the eye in and suggest a richness and depth beyond the capacity of a standard domestic hardwood veneer.  While functioning in consonance with its surroundings, the sideboard exists for this moment of private surprise.
